Suspended Udupi Students Surrender: Get Anticipatory Bail For Washroom Video Incident

Three female students of a medical college in Udupi, Karnataka, have surrendered before a local court after being suspended for filming another student in the women’s washroom. The court, on Friday, granted them anticipatory bail.

According to sources, the three girls had applied for anticipatory bail through a lawyer.

The students, namely Alimatul Shaifa, Shabanaz, and Aliya, who were under suspension, allegedly installed video cameras in the women’s washrooms to record their fellow students while they were showering or using the washroom facilities, based on reports.

Upon the revelation of this incident, there were vehement protests by other students expressing anger over the breach of privacy and urging strict action against the accused. Subsequently, the optometry institute took the decision to suspend the 3 students from their studies.

The institute’s director clarified the reasons for the suspension, that include the violation of college regulations banning the possession of mobile phones, as well as their misuse for recording a video inside the washroom.

Also, An FIR (First Information Report) has been lodged against the three female students in connection with this incident.
