Bibhav Kumar

Delhi police on Saturday detained Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, from the latter’s residence for allegedly assaulting AAP MP Swati Maliwal.

Accusations of Ex-DCW Chief

The former DCW (Delhi Commission for Women) Chief accused Kumar of grievously assaulting her during a recent visit to Kejriwal’s residence.

In the FIR filed based on Maliwal’s complaint, she alleged that Kumar “slapped, hit in the stomach, and kicked” her. Maliwal claimed she ran out of the CM’s residence and immediately called the police after the incident. She added that Kejriwal was present at his residence when the incident occurred.

Delhi Police Files FIR

Following Maliwal’s statement, Delhi police registered an FIR under sections 354, 506, 509, and 323 of the IPC, among other sections, for offenses including assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, criminal intimidation, word, gesture, or acts intended to insult, and assault.

The forensic team of Delhi police visited Kejriwal’s residence on Saturday and collected CCTV footage. Maliwal had alleged that the CCTV recordings at the Delhi CM’s residence were tampered with.

Kumar’s Advocate Statement

Advocate Karan Sharma, representing Bibhav Kumar, stated, “We’ve not received any information from the police yet. We’ve sent them an email stating that we will cooperate in the investigation.”
