“Truth Has Won”: Surjewala After SC’s Order To Dismiss ED Plea Against Siddaramaiah’s Wife In MUDA Case

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Monday strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for making unfounded allegations against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah related to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority land allotment issue.

This statement comes in the wake of the Supreme Court rejecting the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) plea to investigate Siddaramaiah’s wife, BM Parvathi, over the same case.

Surjewala Accuses BJP of Politically Motivated Harassment

In a post on X, Surjewala accused the BJP of fabricating claims and misusing government agencies to target the Chief Minister and his family. He said, “The BJP created baseless allegations against CM Siddaramaiah on the MUDA issue, protested against him for months, and misused offices including the ED to harass the CM and his wife.”

He welcomed the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the ED’s plea, calling it a clear rejection of what he termed the BJP’s “false propaganda.” Surjewala added, “The truth has triumphed. Satyamev Jayate.”

Siddaramaiah Applauds Supreme Court Verdict

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also welcomed the court’s decision, describing it as a strong vindication and a blow to the central government’s attempts to implicate his family. On social media, he wrote:

“The Supreme Court’s ruling dismissing the ED’s appeal to probe my wife in the MUDA matter is a significant affirmation of justice against misuse of power.”

He reiterated his lifelong commitment to the Constitution and the law, saying, “This judgment reinforces my faith in the legal system and the rule of law.”

Charges Of Political Misuse Of Investigative Agencies

Siddaramaiah accused the BJP-led central agencies, such as the ED and CBI, of being manipulated for political vendettas. He highlighted the undue harassment and mental distress caused by the ongoing case.

Supreme Court Rejects ED’s Appeal, Upholds Karnataka High Court Order

The Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran, refused to entertain the ED’s appeal against the Karnataka High Court’s order quashing the probe against BM Parvathi.

The bench emphasized, “Political battles must be fought at the ballot box. The Enforcement Directorate should not be used for political score-settling.”

This judgment effectively ends the investigation against the Chief Minister’s wife in the MUDA land allotment matter, marking a major setback for the ED.
