A private school teacher in Ballia (UP) has been charged for allegedly assaulting a Class 10 student, resulting in partial hearing loss, as per the police.
The incident occurred on May 13 at the school situated in Piprauli Barhagaon under the jurisdiction of Ubhaon police station during a math class attended by the 14-year-old victim, Prateek, they stated.
Praveen Kumar Madhukar, Prateek’s father, filed a complaint claiming that his son was physically assaulted by his math teacher, Raghavendra, after catching him conversing with another student during class, informed Vipin Singh, SHO of Ubhaon police station. According to the complaint, Raghavendra allegedly struck Prateek multiple times near his ear.
The complainant further stated that his son’s right eardrum ruptured due to the injury, resulting in hearing difficulties.
Acting upon the father’s complaint, authorities registered a case against the accused teacher under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code on Saturday, police confirmed, noting that further investigation is ongoing.
