A court in Muzaffarnagar has recently granted bail to RLD (Rashtriya Lok Dal) MLA Rajpal Baliyan and Samajwadi Party leader Promod Tyagi in a case related to the violation of prohibitory orders.
Rajpal Baliyan is the leader of the RLD legislative party in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly and MLA from the Budhana constituency in Muzaffarnagar.
Special Judge Mayank Jaiswal granted both of them bail upon payment of a bail amount of ₹15,000 each. The court has set the next date of hearing for September 5th.
According to the Prosecution Officer Arvind Kumar, on January 24, 2022, the police registered a case against Baliyan and Tyagi, along with 18 SP (Samajwadi Party) and RLD workers, under sections 279, 270, 188, 171 of the Indian Penal Code and the Epidemic Diseases Act, 2020, in connection with the opening of a party campaign office in Budhana during the election campaign.
Baliyan’s lawyer, Onkar Singh Tomar, mentioned that during the election campaign in Budhana, where Rajpal Baliyan was contesting on the RLD ticket, some people gathered on the occasion of the inauguration of the party’s election office in the city.
