14 Political Parties Reaches SC Against Centre Govt, Hearing On April 5

Fourteen political parties on Friday filed petitioned in the Supreme Court, stating that the central government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is misusing central agencies such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The Indian National Congress , Trinamool Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazahgam and Rashtraiya Janata Dal are among the petitioners which have sought pre-arrest guidelines.

Senior Counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned the matter for urgent listing before Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud.

“14 political parties have come together, seeking pre-arrest guidelines and their enforcement. Today CBI ED entirely being used against us,” Singhvi stated.

He further alleged that 95 percent of government investigations target opposition party leaders.

The CJI scheduled the matter for hearing on April 5, 2023.
