2005 Sharamjeevi Express Blast: Jaunpur Court Holds Two Guilty

In Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur court, two individuals have been found guilty in the 2005 Shramjeevi Express blast case, which resulted in the tragic loss of 14 lives.

The incident, which occurred on July 28, 2005, resulted in the tragic death of 14 individuals, with 62 others sustaining injuries, as an explosion tore through a coach of the Patna-New Delhi train near Jaunpur station in Uttar Pradesh at approximately 5:00 pm.

District government advocate Virendra Maurya confirmed the guilt of the aforementioned individuals.

The sentencing is scheduled to take place on January 2, 2024.

The explosion, fueled by RDX placed in the toilet, occurred as the train traversed the Harpalganj railway station and approached Hariharpur railway crossing.

RDX has been implicated in various terrorist attacks on Indian targets, including the Ayodhya train bombing in June 2000.

Witnesses recounted that two young men, carrying a white suitcase, boarded the train at Jaunpur.

Shortly thereafter, both individuals hastily exited the moving train, leaving behind their suitcase. A few minutes later, the carriage was rocked by the explosion.
