A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Mumbai has issued a bailable warrant of Rs 10,000 against one of the accused for failing to appear before the court for a hearing despite the court order in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case trial.
The warrant was issued against Sudhakar Dhar Dwivedi, also known as Dayanand Pandey, for not attending the court hearing despite being instructed by the court to appear in person.
On September 29, 2008, six individuals lost their lives, and over 100 others sustained injuries following the detonation of an explosive device planted on a motorcycle in Maharashtra’s Malegaon city, situated in Nashik town. On October 23, 2008, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) achieved its first breakthrough in the case, apprehending BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur. Subsequently, additional suspects, including Sameer Kulkarni, retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay, Sudhakar Chaturvedi, Ajay Rahilkar, and Sudhakar Dhar Dwivedi, were also taken into custody.
