A.P. Skill Development Scam: Naidu Moves Local Court for Bail

Chandrababu Naidu

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days due to his alleged involvement in a multi-crore Skill Development Corporation scam, has submitted two bail petitions, one interim and one regular, in a local court in Andhra Pradesh.

In the interim bail plea, Naidu vehemently refuted all the allegations made against him and contended that there was no prima facie evidence on record to support the charges.

Advocate G Subba Rao, a member of Naidu’s legal team, stated, “We have filed two petitions, one for interim bail and another for regular bail. However, it is unlikely that the hearing will take place today (Friday).” Rao further added that the Crime Investigation Department (CID) has yet to respond with a counter to their bail requests. Consequently, he indicated that the hearing might not occur on Friday. Nevertheless, the CID has received the notice and is yet to provide a response, according to the advocate.

The bail petitions were formally submitted on Thursday at the ACB Court, where Naidu had been remanded.

Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was apprehended in connection with a case related to the alleged misappropriation of funds from the Skill Development Corporation, resulting in a significant financial loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state government.

Currently, Naidu is incarcerated in the Rajamahendravaram central prison.
