Advocates Shailesh Madiyal and Kanu Agrawal Appointed as AAGs for Jammu and Kashmir

Advocate Shailesh Madiyal and Advocate Kanu Agrawal have been appointed as Additional Advocate General (AAG) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) with the responsibility of representing the Union Territory in cases before the Supreme Court.

Both Madiyal and Agrawal hold the position of advocates-on-record (AoR) at the Supreme Court.

Advocate Madiyal completed his law from Bangalore University. Agrawal, on the other hand, is an associate of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. He graduated from the National Law Institute University, Bhopal in the year 2014. Subsequently, he served as a judicial clerk at the Supreme Court under the guidance of Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre(now retired). Advocate Agrawal also gained experience while working at the chambers of advocates Sandeep Das (AoR) and Vipin Tyagi.

Advocate Agrawal notably secured the second rank in the 2021 AoR examination.

In 2022, the J&K administration had appointed advocate Rushab Aggarwal as Standing Counsel and advocate Shailesh Madyal as Advocate-on-Record to represent J&K’s before the Apex Court.
