Air Hostess Geetika Sharma Suicide Case: Gopal Kanda Acquitted

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court acquits former Haryana Minister Gopal Goyal Kanda in air hostess Geetika Sharma suicide case. Geetika, a former air hostess, who was earlier employed with Kanda’s MDLR airlines, was found dead on August 5, 2012 at her Ashok Vihar residence in North West Delhi.

The Court has said in order that prosecution has failed to prove offence under Section 306 and 120-B IPC against the accused Gopal Kanda. The Prosecution also failed to prove that deceased Geetika Sharma How had no option but to commit suicide. The possibility of deceased Geetika Sharma committing suicide due to other reasons, as argued herein above also cannot be ruled out.

The Court said that none of the charges framed against accused persons have been proved on record. Accordingly, both accused persons Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chadha are acquitted for the offence under Section 120-B IPC r/w 466/471/468/469 IPC and 66 IT Act, 2000 and under Section 306 r/w 120-B IPC. Special Judge Vikas Dhull of Rouse Avenue Pronounced this order.
