Assault Case: Kerala Court Summons Actor Unni Mukundan, To Appear On Oct 27

Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has been summoned by the Kakkanad Judicial First Class Magistrate Court to appear on October 27 in connection with an assault case filed by his former manager, Vipin Kumar.

The summons follows a police probe that reportedly uncovered strong evidence, including 10 minutes of CCTV footage, witness testimonies, circumstantial details, and mobile tower data. This directly contradicts earlier media reports suggesting there was no evidence to support the complaint.

According to the charge sheet, Mukundan has been booked under multiple sections for offences such as premeditated assault, criminal intimidation, verbal abuse, and property damage — specifically for throwing and breaking Kumar’s sunglasses. All charges are bailable, and the actor is expected to seek bail as part of routine procedure.

Mukundan, however, has denied assaulting Kumar. In a press conference earlier, he claimed there was no physical violence and maintained that he only confronted Kumar over personal differences. “I did throw his sunglasses — that is true. But there was no physical contact,” the actor said, even declaring that he would quit acting if proven guilty.

The matter was also discussed by industry bodies FEFKA and AMMA, which later clarified that Mukundan’s version of events was inconsistent with the evidence. They stated they would not interfere with the ongoing police case and that the matter must proceed strictly through legal channels.
