Australian Court on Friday granted Conditional Bail to ISIS Bride Mariam Raad, who had been detained when she was trying to flee Syria and staying there to live with her husband, who had joined the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS).
Australian Court put conditions upon her that she will not be permitted to obtain, create, or disseminate any information regarding explosives, weapons, anti-surveillance, executions, terrorist acts, terrorist groups, or armed conflicts.
ISIS Bride Maraim Raad was trying to flee Syria at the beginning of 2014 to join her Terrorist husband Muhammad Zahab, who had left Australia a year earlier to join ISIS, according to court documents.
Following a police raid on Raad’s house in the rural NSW town of Young, she was taken into custod. Reportedly, her arrest happened just three months after she and 16 other women were deported.
Before going back to her native country, the 31-year-old was residing in the Al Roj Internally Displaced Persons camp in Syria.
In 2018, an airstrike in Syria is thought to have killed Zahab. Raad is accused of violating the Criminal Code by entering or lingering in areas that have been declared off-limits.
Raad appeared through an audiovisual link in Griffith Local Court on Friday to request release from police custody. According to the media, the court granted her plea with a series of restrictions barring her from getting in touch with anyone who might be affiliated with a terrorist group.
The 31-year-old was told by the court not to acquire any firearms, illegal weapons, or supplies that may be used to construct explosives or weapons.
She will be compelled to go to her neighbourhood police station once a week and refrain from going near any international airports. Reportedly, her passport has been turned over to the authorities.
It is important to note that Shamima Begum, an “ISIS bride,” was prohibited from returning to the UK to challenge the cancellation of her British citizenship by the Supreme Court of the UK earlier in February 2021.
When Sarah and two schoolmates left the UK in 2015 to join the terrorist group ISIS in Syria, she was 15 years old. When she was discovered in a camp for refugees in northern Syria on February 19, 2019, then-Home Secretary Sajid Javid revoked her British citizenship.
