A POCSO court in Odisha’s Balasore has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl.
Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Panda stated that the man was convicted by the POCSO court in Balasore after the examination of 13 witnesses and 29 exhibits.

Judge Ranjan Kumar Sutar, presiding over the case, additionally imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convicted individual. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional two years of imprisonment, as stated by Panda.
The crime occurred in Bhaskarganj village in August 2023, and the accused was found guilty under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The victim’s mother filed an FIR, leading to the arrest of the accused and subsequent legal proceedings.
