The Ballia district court in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for attacking a teenage girl with a knife, causing severe facial injuries, after she resisted his attempts to molest her. Additionally, the convict has been fined Rs 15,000.
Special Public Prosecutor Vimal Kumar Rai stated that Yashwant Singh unlawfully entered the residence of a 16-year-old girl on July 12, 2021, and subjected her to molestation. When she resisted, Singh assaulted her multiple times on the face with the intent to cause harm and inflicted serious injuries using a knife. It’s worth noting that the girl was alone at home during the incident.
Following a complaint filed by the girl’s father, a case was registered against Yashwant under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
After considering the arguments from both sides, Judge Pratham Kant found Yashwant Singh guilty and handed down a life imprisonment sentence. Additionally, the court imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on him, as confirmed by Rai.
