The special court in Mumbai has recently postpone the proceedings of the Best Bakery case and has set June 2 as the date for delivering its judgment.
This case pertains to the unfortunate incident that occurred during the 2002 Gujarat riots, where a mob set fire to a bakery in Vadodara, resulting in the tragic loss of 14 lives.
After the incident, Zaheera Sheikh, the daughter of the bakery owner, filed a police complaint against 21 individuals allegedly involved in the incident.
However, in June 2003, the fast-track court acquitted all the accused due to insufficient evidence. The court specifically highlighted the lack of cooperation from key witnesses, including Sheikh, who turned hostile during the proceedings.
