Bhushan Steel Case: Delhi Court Grants Bail To Ex-CFO Nittin Johri Due To Health Issues

$15 Million Fraud Case

The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has recently granted bail to Nittin Johri, an accused in the Bhushan Steel Money Laundering case, due to health reasons, recognizing him as a sick and infirm person.

Special Judge Jagdish Kumar granted Johri bail after reviewing his medical records and considering arguments made by his counsel. Johri, the former CFO of Bhushan Steel Limited, must provide a bail bond of Rs. 1 Lakh with one surety of the same amount.

Additionally, he must surrender his passport to the court and is not allowed to leave the country without the court’s prior permission.

The court also directed Johri to be available for further investigation if required. Senior advocate Pramod Kumar Dubey and advocate Gautam Khazanchi represented Johri, arguing for bail based on his deteriorating health condition in jail.

The court noted Johri’s comorbidities, including diabetes and increased creatinine levels, as reported by AIIMS. It was also mentioned that Johri has a genetic history of cancer and kidney failure, with both his parents having died of cancer and his father having been on dialysis for eight years.

“Given the applicant’s health condition, there may be a need for speedy treatment if the situation worsens,” the court stated in its order dated July 12. The court also noted that the investigation in the case is complete and that Johri has cooperated with the investigation.
