Birbhum district court grants bail to TMC leader Anubrata Mandal

The Birbhum district court on Tuesday has granted bail on a bond of Rs 2,000 to Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mandal in an attempt to murder case.

The application of the state police to extend the remand of Anubrata Mandal for seven more days was also rejected by the Court.

Anubrata Mandal got bail but for now he will remain in jail because He has been booked by the CBI and ED in the cattle and coal smuggling case. Mandal will have to go back to Asansol jail under judicial custody in the case of cattle smuggling worth crores of rupees.

As directed by the court, the state police handed over the documents and case diaries related to the fresh case of attempt to murder to the ED. On December 21, Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mandal got relief from the Delhi High Court. The ED gave an oral assurance to the Delhi High Court that it will not execute the production warrant issued by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court against TMC leader Anubrata Mandal till January 9.
