Bjp leader moves Supreme Court seeking cbi probe in Sindhu Moosewala’s murder case, state machinery in Punjab has failed

The Supreme Court in the case Jagit Singh v State of Punjab & Ors observed in the case of murder of Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moosewala, where the BJP leader Jagjit Singh seeking CBI Probe in the murder has approached Supreme Court. An FIR was registered on May 29, 2022 at PS City 1 Mansa, District Mansa and an investigation has been sought under section 302, 307, 341, 148, 149, 427 & 120- B of Indian Penal Code 1860 and under section 25 & 27 of Arms Act 1959. The brutal killing of Sidhu Moosewala near his house in his village has completely shaken public confidence in the govt led by the State of Punjab, was argued in the petition by Singh. The petitioner in the plea further states that the way the cold-blooded killing was done in broad daylight is indicative of the fact that the state machinery in the state of Punjab has miserably failed to effectively curb the menace of gangwars and also the state machinery of Punjab has failed in its duty not only to prevent the crime. Moosewala’s murder deserves to be investigated by a central agency as the same is a glaring example where the conscience of the community at large has been shocked, was also being contended in the writ petition. It was further averred by the BJP leader that the people of Punjab are confident that no effective investigation would be done by the state and rather by removing the security cover, the state would try to cover up its failure. The plea further states that the same involves international gangsters as well as local/inter- state criminal who have fled or are trying to flee to different parts of the country as A particular state agency does not have the jurisdiction to investigate the present case. AOR Namit Saxena has filled the petition
