Buduan Double Murder: Court Remands Accused Javed to 14 Day Judicial Custody

Buduan Double Murder

A court in Budaun (Uttar Pradesh) on Friday remanded the brother of the main accused in the Budaun double murder case to 14-day judicial custody.

Javed, who had been on the run since the incident at Baba Colony on Tuesday, surrendered at the satellite police outpost of the Baradari police station in neighboring Bareilly district on Thursday. He appeared before Chief Justice Magistrate (CJM) Mohammad Sajid’s court, escorted by the Civil Lines Police.

Authorities may soon approach the court to seek his remand for further questioning. During interrogation, Javed, charged with murder, informed the police that he and his brother Sajid had fled together after the incident. Initially, Javed sought refuge at his in-laws’ house, then proceeded to Delhi, where his associates warned him about the ongoing police search, prompting him to surrender.

Hours after the Tuesday incident, Sajid was fatally shot in a police encounter. Sajid had allegedly entered the residence of a familiar family and attacked Ayush (12), Ahaan alias Honey (8), and Yuvraj (10) with a knife. Ayush and Ahaan succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while Yuvraj was hospitalized.

Both Sajid and Javed face charges under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Additionally, the Budaun district administration has initiated a magisterial inquiry into Sajid’s police encounter.
