The Calcutta High Court has ordered the revocation of appointments of 842 Group C employees in West Bengal schools.
It is to be noted that the high court already cancelled the appointments of 1911 Group D employees and 618 secondary level teachers who were illegally recruited through the SSC (Staff Selection Commission) recruitment scam.
The court found that the group C employees were hired fraudulently and by taking jobs from competent candidates.
The SSC appointed 785 of the 842 personnel through OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheet manipulations, while the remaining 57 were employed without SSC recommendations.
It also ordered the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) to retract the 785 staff recommendations by Saturday afternoon and the state Secondary Education Board to revoke all 842 appointments by 3 p.m.
If the job losers must repay whatever salaries they received, while they were employed, will be decided by the court at a later date.
