A Chennai Special Court for MP/MLAs on Friday extended the judicial custody of Tamil Nadu’s imprisoned minister, Senthil Balaji, until August 28. The court directed the prison authorities to physically present Senthil Balaji on August 28 for further proceedings.

Minister Senthil Balaji, who was apprehended under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), appeared via Video Conference from Puzhal Central Prison before Justice Sivakumar of the special court for MP/MLA.

After undergoing 5 days of questioning by the ED at the Nungambakkam ED office, he was presented before a sessions court in Chennai on August 12. Subsequently, the sessions court transferred the case to the special court for MP/MLAs.

In the latest development, the Special Court for MP/MLAs extended Senthil Balaji’s judicial custody until August 28.
