A sessions court in Chennai has reserved orders for September 20 regarding the bail petition filed by DMK Minister Senthil Balaji. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in June in connection with a money laundering case.
Principal Sessions Judge S Alli reserved orders after hearing the extensive arguments presented by Senior Counsels Kabil Sibal and N R Elango, representing Balaji, and Additional Solicitor General A R L Sunderesan, who represented the ED.
Balaji’s arrest on June 14 is related to alleged irregularities in the selection of bus conductors, drivers, and junior engineers within the Tamil Nadu transport department. These appointments occurred during Balaji’s tenure as the Transport Minister in the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government between 2011 and 2015. Balaji subsequently aligned with the DMK in 2018.
