Cattle Smuggling: Delhi Court Seeks ED’s Response On TMC Leader’s Daughter’s Bail Application

Cattle Smuggling Case

A court in Delhi has requested a response from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding an application filed by Sukanya Mondal, the daughter of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Anubrata Mondal, seeking interim bail for a period of six weeks. Currently, both father and daughter are in judicial custody in connection with a money-laundering case involving alleged cattle smuggling at the India-Bangladesh border.

Special Judge Raghubir Singh issued a notice to the federal agency, instructing them to file their reply by July 10, the date scheduled for the court hearing on the matter. The judge’s order stated, “File is taken up on the application for grant of interim bail for a period of six weeks moved on behalf of applicant/accused Sukanya Mondal…. Issue notice of this application to the ED for July 10, 2023.”

Sukanya Mondal, who works as a primary school teacher in Birbhum district, West Bengal, was arrested by the ED on April 26 after being questioned. Previously, the agency had attached assets worth Rs 20.25 crore in connection with the cattle-smuggling case.
