Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court granted bail to AAP leader Durgesh Pathak on Wednesday after he provided a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh.

Pathak and other accused, who appeared in court in response to summons, were joined by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others via video link from Tihar Jail.

Vinod Chauhan appeared in person and remains in custody related to a money laundering case. Kejriwal’s judicial custody was extended until September 25.

The court had issued summons and production warrants following the CBI’s supplementary charge sheet. The CBI has charged Kejriwal, Pathak, Amit Arora, Sharath Chandra Reddy, Ashish Mathur, and Chauhan with financial misconduct related to AAP’s Goa election campaign.

On September 3, the court acknowledged the supplementary charge sheet. The CBI claims that funds from the South group were used for AAP’s campaign and alleges Kejriwal promised Rs 90 lakhs to each candidate in Goa. The CBI also asserts that Pathak oversaw the campaign finances.

Special Public Prosecutor D.P. Singh highlighted that Kejriwal was linked to the South group via Vijay Nair, a media manager appointed by Kejriwal. Singh also mentioned threats and extortion related to the Mahadev liquor case, involving several witnesses and accused.

The court is set to review the supplementary charge sheet further and provide copies of the documents to the defense.
