The Central government on Monday appointed Ravneet Kaur, a 1988 Punjab cadre IAS officer, as the new chairperson of the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
Currently, Kaur is the Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner at the Department of Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management in Chandigarh.
According to the May 15 order, her appointment will last five years from the date she takes charge until she reaches the age of 65, or until further orders are issued, whichever is earlier.
The position of CCI Chairperson has been vacant since the previous occupant, Ashok Kumar Gupta, retired in October, 2022.
Till now, Sangeeta Verma has been serving as the acting Chairperson.
