Centre Approved Appointment Of 5 Additional Judges as Permanent Judges Of Madras HC

The Central government on Friday approved the appointment of five additional Madras High Court judges as permanent judges.

The five additional judges who have been made permanent are, Justice Sundaram Srimathy, Justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy, Justice R Vijaykumar, Justice Mohammed Shaffiq and Justice J Sathya Narayana Prasad.

The Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the appointment clarification on twitter.

On February 15, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended that the five additional judges be made permanent.

According to the Collegium resolution published on the Supreme Court website, the names of the five judges were recommended for appointment as permanent judges by the Madras High Court Collegium on November 22, and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Governor agreed with the recommendation.

The Madras High Court currently has 54 judges, leaving 21 vacancies out of its sanctioned strength of 75 judges.
