The recent appointment of Justice Sheo Kumar Singh as the Acting Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has been notified by the Central government.
This appointment comes into effect until a new Chairperson is appointed, as per the notification issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).
The appointment of Justice Singh follows the retirement of Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel as the Chairperson on Thursday.
Justice Singh, a graduate of Allahabad University, has a long and distinguished career in the judicial service. He began his journey in 1984 and has served as a district judge in various districts of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
Prior to his elevation as a judge of the Allahabad High Court, Justice Singh held significant positions including Registrar (Judicial) at the Supreme Court of India and Registrar General at the Allahabad High Court. His appointment as a Judicial Member of the NGT took place on March 11, 2020.
