Centre Notifies Four Judicial Officers Appointment As Madras HC Additional Judges

The Central Government on Friday notified the appointment of four district judges as new additional judges of the Madras High Court.

According to the notification from the Ministry of Law and Justice:

“In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri (i) Ramasamy Sakthivel, (ii) P. Dhanabal, (iii) Chilmasamy Kumarappan and (iv) Kandasamy Rajasekar, to be Additional Judges of the Madras High Court, in that order of seniority, for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”

Dhanabal, one of the four judicial officers, is currently serving as the Registrar General of the high court.

On March 21, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the names of four District Judges for appointment as Madras High Court Judges.

The Chief Minister and the Governor of Tamil Nadu approved of the High Court Collegium’s recommendation on August 10, 2022, to appoint the four judicial officers as High Court judges.
