A district court in Jamshedpur has sentenced Gurpreet Singh Biradi to 1 year in prison and fined Rs. 2.70 lakh for fraudulently taking Rs. 2.30 lakh for selling land in the Sundarnagar police station area to someone else.
The verdict was delivered by First Class Judicial Magistrate Ritesh Kumar on Thursday.
TN Singh, the complainant, stated that he had paid Gurpreet Singh Rs. 2.30 lakh to purchase land that was part of the JP Green project.
However, Gurpreet sold the land to another person. Despite demands, Gurpreet failed to return the money.
Under pressure, Gurpreet issued a check to TN Singh, which bounced when deposited in the bank.
Subsequently, the matter reached the court, which ordered Gurpreet Singh to pay Rs. 2.70 lakh in compensation instead of the initial Rs. 2.30 lakh.
