Cheque Bounce Case: Actress Ameesha Patel Enters “Not Guilty” Plea In Ranchi Court

Actress Ameesha Patel, accused in a financial fraud case, has recently made her appearance before the Ranchi civil court where she pleaded not guilty in the case.

The case, filed by Jharkhand-based film producer Ajay Kumar Singh in 2018, alleges fraud after a cheque issued by Patel bounced.

According to Singh’s complaint, Patel and her partner borrowed Rs 2.5 crore from him for the production and promotion of their film ‘Desi Magic’.

However, despite repeated delays and excuses, Patel failed to repay the loan as agreed upon. Two cheques, one for Rs 2.5 crore and another for Rs 50 lakh, were given to Singh’s company by Patel in October 2018.

Unfortunately, both cheques bounced, leading to an official complaint being filed against her at Argora Police Station in Ranchi.

Initially, Patel and her lawyer did not appear before the court despite being summoned, resulting in a warrant being issued against her on April 6. However, she eventually appeared before the Ranchi court on June 17, furnishing a bail bond of Rs 10,000 and being granted conditional bail.

Although ordered to appear again on June 21, she failed to do so, citing unavoidable reasons.

Further, the court proceedings have drawn attention to Patel’s legal troubles, shedding light on the allegations of fraud and cheque bounce against her.

Ameesha Patel is known for her roles in popular films such as ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hai’ and ‘Gadar’.
