Cheque Bounce Case: Court Convicts K’taka Minister Madhu Bangarappa

Madhu Bangarappa

A special court of People’s Representative in Bengaluru has convicted Karnataka Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa.

The court directed him to pay a fine of Rs 6.96 crore to the complainant, stating that failure to do so would result in a six-month imprisonment for the minister.

The cheque, amounting to Rs 6.60 crore, issued to Rajesh Exports, bounced during Madhu Bangarappa’s tenure as the managing director of Akash Audio Company. Rajesh Export Company filed a cheque bounce case against Madhu Bangarappa in 2011.

Additionally, the court mandated that Bangarappa pay a fine of Rs 10,000 to the government.

In response to the court’s decision, Madhu Bangarappa expressed his views in Hubli, stating that the case had already been resolved. He accused BJP leaders of deliberately seizing upon an “old order” dated December 26th, attempting to extract significance from it.
