CJI DY Chandrachur

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, before commencing regular court proceedings today, acknowledged the concerns expressed by bar members regarding the delayed generation of diary numbers for e-filed matters.

He informed that steps have been taken to address this issue, resulting in a significant reduction of the process time to 15 minutes from the time of filing.

Furthermore, the CJI stated that the system was being expedited to generate diary numbers immediately upon filing.

“One request by bar members was that diary numbers for matters were being generated late. So now we’re down to a situation where the diary number is being generated within 15 mins of the matter being filed.”

CJI emphasized the court’s commitment to enhance the efficiency of the process by ensuring that diary numbers are generated instantly upon the filing of a matter, CJI stated, “Now we hope that it will be so that the diary number gets generated immediately upon the matter being filed. This is what we were doing with the staff on Saturday and Sunday. I had received requests from SCBA and SCAORA that diary numbers were generated late on e-filing.”
