Cji u u lalit says, Supreme Court to have its own platform for live streaming

On Monday, the Chief Justice of India UU Lalit stated that the Supreme Court will soon have its own platform for live-streaming. The statement was made by the CJI when a counsel mentioned that the Supreme Court should secure its copyright when the proceedings are live-streamed in YouTube. Thus, the counsel sought the urgent listing of the petition filed in that regard.
The CJI Lalit stated while posting the petition on October 17 that, “we’ll have our own platform, these are the initial stages”.
The Constitution Bench hearings are likely to be live streamed from September 27.
On September 26, 2018, four year back, the Supreme Court in the Swapnil Tripathi case, had accepted in principle the idea of live-streaming cases of public importance. However, the live-streaming of hearings is yet to be implemented.
The proceedings before the ceremonial bench of CJI NV Ramana on his retirement day were live-streamed to the public on August 26. However, that remains so far, the only instance of the court proceedings being live streamed. Last week, it has been decided by the Supreme Court to start live-streaming of the Constitution Bench hearings from September 27.
