The Bombay High Court on Monday grants bail to Maharashtra Former Home Minister and NCP leader Anil Deshmukh in a corruption case filed by CBI.
Deshmukh, 74, had approached the high court after his bail plea was rejected by a special CBI court last month.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader has been in jail since November last year after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case. In April this year, he was arrested by the CBI in a corruption case. He is in judicial custody and lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail.
Deshmukh was granted bail by the High Court last month in the ED case. However, his bail plea in the corruption case was rejected by the special CBI court saying there was prima facie evidence against him.
In his bail application, Deshmukh requested to be released on bail stating that he is suffering from multiple ailments.
