Important Matters listed before courts on December 9

  • The Supreme Court will pronounce judgement on a plea challenging the decision of the Delhi High Court refusing to provide information regarding the decisions taken by Supreme Court Collegium and to bring the Collegium under the ambit of the RTI.
  • The supreme court will hear a petition concerning the deteriorating air quality in the national capital. On the last date of hearing, the Supreme Court rapped up the Centre and the state govt’s over the rise in pollution levels in the national capital.
  • The Supreme Court will hear a plea by National Commission for Women’s plea  challenging a recent judgement of the Punjab and Haryana High Court which held that a 16-year-old Muslim girl can enter into a valid marriage.
  • The Supreme Court will hear petition of medical students who have returned from Ukraine.  In the last hearing, the court had suggested the government to create a portal to facilitate admission in other countries. 
  • The Supreme court will hear a plea by Sharjeel Imam seeking to expunge certain remarks made by the Delhi High Court in its order denying bail to co-accused Umar Khalid in a case relating to 2020 Delhi Riots.
  • The Delhi high Court will hear a  plea of ACB seeking cancellation of bail granted to AAP MLA Amantulla Khan in corruption related to irregularity in appointment in Delhi Waqf Board.
  • The Rouse avenue court will hear arguements on framing of charges against Delhi Jailed Minister Satyender Jain and others in a Money Laundering case.
  • Shraddha Murder case: main accused Aftab will be produced in Saket court by Tihar Jail Authority at the end of judicial remand period before the concern judge.
