Court Remands 7th Accused To NIA Custody Till Aug 18 In ISIS Module Case

The Mumbai Court has recently remanded the 7th accused to the NIA’s custody in connection with the Maharashtra ISIS module case.

Shamil Saquib Nachan, apprehended from the neighboring Thane district, constitutes the seventh individual to be arrested in this ongoing case.

Nachan was produced before a special court, which remanded him to the NIA’s custody till August 18.

According to the investigation of the Probe agency, Nachan has purportedly played an active role in promoting the terrorist activities associated with the designated foreign terrorist organization. The agency asserts that he has participated in the creation, training, and testing of improvised explosive devices for the execution of terrorist acts.
Collaborating with the other six suspects—Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, Mohammed Imran Khan, Mohammed Yunus Saki, Simab Nasiruddin Kazi, Abdul Kadir Pathan, and Aakif Ateeque Nachan, along with additional persons of interest Nachan had been actively engaged in these activities, as confirmed by the probe agency.

Khan and Saki were members of the ‘Sufa terrorist gang’ and had been marked as ‘most wanted’ by the NIA due to their involvement in a case related to the seizure of explosives from a vehicle in Rajasthan in April 2022.

Based on the ongoing investigations conducted by the NIA, it has come to light that the accused were planning to execute acts of terrorism, with the aim of disrupting the peace and communal harmony within the nation.
