Cruise Ship Narcotics Case: Munmun Dhamecha Seeks Discharge In Case In Which Aryan Khan Was Arrested

Munmun Dhamecha, one of the accused in the cruise ship drug case, approached a Mumbai court on Tuesday, seeking discharge from the case in which Aryan Khan, the son of actor Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested in October, 2021.

A special Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) team recovered 13 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of mephedrone MD, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA (Ecstasy), and ₹1,33,000 at the International Cruise Terminal, Green Gate Mumbai.

The NCB had filed a FIR following such a seizure.

Dhamecha was arrested on October 3, 2021 and released on bail on October 28, 2021 by the Bombay High Court.

Dhamecha alleged in the current petition, filed through counsel Ali Kaashif Khan, that after examining Dhamecha’s cabin room on the cruise ship, one transparent packet containing a black semi-solid substance was discovered on the desk.

Dhamecha argued that when she boarded the cruise, there was a thorough screening and security check conducted, during which no incriminating substances were discovered in her possession.

She also claimed that she was the only person held from her cabin, despite the fact that nothing was found in her possession.

She further added that other people who were in the cabin during the alleged recovery were let off.

Therefore, Dhamecha has pleaded for parity with Khan, who was given a clean chit by the NCB.

“That in the case of Khan, who was arrested due to being in the company of co-accused Arbaaz Merchant, from whom a recovery of 0.6 grams of charas was made, Khan was discharged by NCB through their chargesheet,” the plea highlighted.
