Defamation Case against Rahul Gandhi: Sultanpur Court Schedule Hearing for Apr 2

Rahul Gandhi

An MP/MLA Court in Sultanpur (Uttar Pradesh) postponed the hearing on a defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to April 2, citing a strike by lawyers. The defamation complaint against the congress leader was filed by BJP leader Vijay Mishra for his alleged objectionable remarks against Home Minister Amit Shah.

The plaintiff’s advocate, Santosh Pandey, stated that the hearing, initially scheduled for Friday, was deferred to April 2 due to lawyers abstaining from court proceedings amidst a strike over various demands.

The case, filed in August 2018, saw a warrant issued against Gandhi by the court last December. Consequently, Gandhi halted his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Amethi on February 20 and appeared before the court, where he was granted bail.
