Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena Singh in a defamation case.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tanya Bamniyal granted bail to the Delhi minister on a bail bond of Rs 20,000 and one surety of the same amount after she appeared before the court in response to a summons.
The defamation case was filed by Delhi BJP leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor, who alleged that Atishi Singh had made accusations that AAP leaders were approached by the BJP with offers of cash to join their party.
The judge will further consider the matter on August 8 for scrutiny of documents and arguments on framing of notice (charges). On May 28, the judge declined to summon Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the complaint but did summon Atishi.
Praveen Shankar Kapoor alleged that the claims made by AAP leaders against the BJP were false and noted that none of them had provided any material to substantiate their allegations.
