Defamatory Remarks Against Amit Shah In 2018: Rahul Gandhi Gets Bail From J’khand Court

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was granted bail on Wednesday by a local MP-MLA court in a defamation case linked to remarks he allegedly made against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a 2018 rally.

Gandhi appeared before the court following directions from the Jharkhand High Court, which had earlier allowed him to defer his appearance to August 6.

“He complied with the court’s direction and has been granted bail. We’ll take the case forward,” said his lawyer.

The complaint, filed by Pratap Kumar, accuses Gandhi of making defamatory statements aimed at damaging Shah’s public image.

Separate SC Rebuke Over China Comment

In a separate matter, the Supreme Court earlier this week rebuked Gandhi over his claim that China had occupied Indian territory, saying:

“If you’re a true Indian, you wouldn’t say this,” the Bench advised him to raise such issues in Parliament, not on social media.

Gandhi’s Jharkhand visit also coincided with the funeral of former CM Shibu Soren in Ramgarh.
