Delhi Court Records Police Testimony In Brij Bhushan Sexual Assault Case

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh

The Rouse Avenue court on Tuesday heard the testimony of Sub Inspector Rashmi, who is involved in the investigation of the sexual assault case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

She testified about collecting photographs from a victim. Another victim, unable to attend due to medical reasons, has been summoned for August 23.

Presided over by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Priyanka Rajpoot, the court is recording prosecution evidence. During cross-examination, Sub Inspector Rashmi stated her participation in the investigation was ordered by senior officers and noted the refusal of a victim, SM, to assist in preparing the site plan, which was then completed by Inspector Ravi. SM has been summoned for further evidence.

The court had previously begun recording statements from prosecution witnesses in the sexual harassment case against former MP and ex-WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Vinod Tomar. Charges were formally framed against both on May 21, after a direction given on May 10. Singh faces charges under sections 354 and 354A of the IPC for sexual harassment and outraging modesty, as well as section 506 (part 1) on allegations from two women.

Tomar is charged under section 506 (part 1) based on one woman’s allegations.

The Delhi Police chargesheet, filed without arrest, outlines Singh’s liability for sexual harassment, molestation, and stalking, supported by a 1599-page document with statements from 44 witnesses.

Two FIRs were filed based on complaints from female wrestlers, with one under the POCSO Act resulting in a cancellation report for a minor wrestler. The chargesheet includes multiple photographs and statements detailing inappropriate behavior by Singh.
