Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to submit its response regarding Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s request to consult his regular doctor via video conference.
The Judge
Kejriwal, in his plea to Special Judge Rakesh Syal, mentioned that his blood sugar levels are fluctuating and expressed his desire to seek advice from his usual physician.
The judge ordered the ED to present its reply by April 18, the date when the court is expected to address the issue. The ED’s counsel, in opposition to his plea, contended that essential facilities for such patients exist in jail and he can undergo examination there. “Why is the ED opposing if I (Kejriwal) am taking care of my health?” questioned Kejriwal’s counsel.
The court, on Monday, extended Kejriwal’s judicial custody in the money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam until April 23. He remains incarcerated in Tihar jail.
ED ACCUSATIONS
The AAP leader has been accused by the ED of being involved in the “entire conspiracy of Delhi liquor scam, in drafting and implementation of the policy, for favoring and benefiting from the quid pro, receiving kickbacks and eventually using part of proceeds of crime generated out of the scheduled offence in the campaign for Goa Assembly elections.”
