Kalvakuntla Kavitha

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Friday granted permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to interrogate BRS leader Kalvakuntla Kavitha, arrested in the Delhi excise policy case in Tihar jail.
The BRS Leader was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam on March 15, 2024.
The court’s decision came on a plea filed by the federal agency seeking authorization to question Kavitha during her judicial custody.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja granted permission for the agency to conduct the interrogation.
Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, stands  accused of being a prominent member of the “South Group”, purportedly involved in paying the ruling AAP in Delhi kickbacks amounting to Rs 100 crore in exchange for a significant portion of liquor licences in the national capital.

The BRS Leader was remanded to 14-day judicial custody last Tuesday.
