After Delhi High Court, Aam Aadmi Party has got a big blow agin, ED has arrested CM Arvind Kejriwal from his residence.
Earlier, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi in Delhi High Court had expressed apprehension before the court that ED wanted to arrest his client.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi had also said that Arvind Kejriwal’s name is also there in the press release of ED issued after the arrest of K Kavita.
After finding no respite from the High Court, Arvind Kejriwal convened discussions with key individuals at his residence regarding the next course of action. However, his deliberations were abruptly interrupted when a sizable contingent of ED officers descended upon his home. Confronted with the sight of 8 to 10 ED teams, Kejriwal swiftly recognized the gravity of the situation and promptly mobilized his legal team to Supreme Court to Initiate an urgent action. His lawyers filed a petition via email in the Supreme Court, requesting an urgent hearing. Despite their en numbers of efforts, no communication was received from the Registrar General prior to his apprehension.
The case centers on allegations of corruption and money laundering pertaining to the preparation and execution of Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, subsequently nullified. Notably, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are currently in judicial custody in connection with this matter. Kejriwal’s prominent inclusion in the ED’s chargesheet underscores accusations of colluding with the accused in crafting the excise policy to his own advantage.
