Delhi Liquor Policy Case: Rouse Avenue Court Extends Manish Sisodia's CBI Custody For Another 2 Weeks

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Monday extended former Deputy CM Sisodia’s judicial custody by two weeks in the liquor policy case being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The CBI produced Sisodia in court and requested an extension of Sisodia’s judicial custody, stating that the investigation into the case is at a critical stage. The judge granted the agency’s request and sent the AAP heavyweight to judicial remand until April 17.

A special CBI court denied Sisodia’s bail plea in the excise policy scam last week, stating he was “prima facie the architect” and played the “most important and vital role” in the criminal conspiracy involving the alleged payment of advance kickbacks of around Rs 90-100 crore, intended for him and his colleagues in the Delhi government.

M K Nagpal, a special CBI judge, had observed that Sisodia’s release would “adversely affect the ongoing investigation.”

Meanwhile, after Sisodia was refused bail in the excise policy scam case, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh stated that the party will move the Delhi High Court.

The CBI arrested Sisodia on February 26 in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and execution of the now-cancelled Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) apprehended Sisodia on March 9 in Tihar jail, where he was being held in connection with the case being investigated by the CBI.
