The Delhi Police on Thursday arrested a man working as a daily wage labourer for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl in the national capital’s Mayur Vihar area.
Officials stated that a verbal complaint was received at Mayur Vihar police station on Wednesday by a man who alleged that his minor daughter was sexually assaulted by a neighbour.
Subsequently, a case was registered under section 376 of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
The accused has been identified as their neighbour, Bheem (30), a resident of Chilla Village in Delhi.
The accused Bheem is unmarried and works as a labourer.
The complainant alleged that Bheem came to his room where his 15-year-old daughter was playing with other children and took her to his room and misbehaved with her.
On hearing her screams, neighbours gathered at the spot and caught hold of the accused.
The police stated, further investigation is ongoing and legal action will be taken accordingly.
