Sahil, the man responsible for the brutal murder of a 16-year-old girl in New Delhi, was arrested by the police on Monday. In CCTV footage from Rohini’s Shahbad Dairy area, he was seen stabbing the minor many times.
He was apprehended in the Uttar Pradesh town of Bulandshahr. The 20-year-old worked as a fridge-AC repair mechanic. Sahil and the minor victim were allegedly in a relationship and had a disagreement the day before the heinous murder.
“Sahil used to work as an AC and Refrigerator mechanic. Further probe is underway and we will ensure that the maximum punishment is meted out to the accused,” Suman Nalwa, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Delhi, stated upon the accused’s arrest.
Sahil confronted the 16-year-old as she was heading to her friend’s son’s birthday party and stabbed her many times. The knife was even got stuck in the victim’s head. Following that, Sahil grabbed up a nearby boulder and smashed her head five times.
A FIR under Section 302 of the IPC was filed against Sahil at PS Shahbad Dairy.
The CCTV footage showed people walking by as the girl was horribly murdered. The incident sparked criticism from Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal, who stated that the city has become “extremely unsafe” for women.
