Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Ram Rahim Got 40 Days Parole Today

The police sources said on Friday that Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was granted 40-day parole. Sources told legally speaking after the paperwork completed he came out form jail came out of jail and headed for his destination.

This is the second time Ram Rahim requested 40-day parole to attend an event. He was previously released on parole for 40 days in October 2022.

The Dera Sacha Sauda chief was imprisoned at Rohtak’s Sunaria Jail for rape and murder.

Moreover, the Dera chief was granted parole ahead of the Haryana panchayat election and Adampur Assembly bypoll. Rahim was granted parole for a month on June 17.

He has been imprisoned in Haryana’s Sunaria jail since 2017, receiving a 20-year term for raping two female disciples at his ashram’s headquarters in Sirsa. Earlier in the month of february, the Dera chief was granted three weeks’ leave.

While parole refers to the temporary release of a prisoner for a specific purpose or the total release of a prisoner before the end of a sentence, on the promise of good behaviour, a furlough is a short-term temporary release of convicts from jail.

In August 2017, a special CBI court in Panchkula convicted him of raping two female disciple.

On the order of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana in 2003, the CBI registered the case and took over the investigation of the earlier registered case at Police Station Sadar in Kurukshetra.

Ranjit Singh, a resident of village Khanpur Kolian, Kurukshetra, was allegedly murdered on July 10, 2002, while working in his fields in village Khanpur Kolian, District Kurukshetra, Haryana.

Following a thorough investigation, the CBI filed a charge sheet in 2007 against six accused, and charges were framed in 2008. On October 8, 2021, the court convicted Rahim and four others in connection with the former Dera manager Ranjit Singh’s murder case.
