Electronic Filing Portal: SC Releases Test Version For Crowd Testing

The Supreme Court recently released a test version of its new electronic filing portal for crowd testing.

The top court’s e-committee, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud in recent years has pushed for e-filing in courts & tribunals across the country.

It directed all High Courts In October 2021 for ensuring that all cases filed by the government are through e-filing mode.

Previously, in September 2022, CJI highlighted the importance of digitization of court records with the aim sought to be achieved by e-filing. He said this with regard to hard copies by advocates needing to be digitized by court staff, which leads to an increased carbon footprint.

In March this year, the bench directed Debts Recovery Tribunals and Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunals to set up comprehensive E-Sewa Kendras to facilitate e-filing.
